White Hall High School was the site of the 2025 Civilian Marksmanship Program’s Arkansas State
Three Position Air Rifle Championship on Saturday February 22, 2025. While the weather and roadways were still a concern on Saturday, most of the 149 registered competitors made the journey to White Hall from as far away as Bentonville or Mt. Home. CMP has been the sponsor of this event for over 20 years in Arkansas. Three Position Air Rifle competition is one of the most popular rifle competitions today not only in Arkansas but in the United States. As the name states, athletes shoot 20 shots of record in each of the 3 Olympic-Style shooting positions; Kneeling, Prone, and Standing position at bulls-eye targets at 10 Meters( apprx 33 feet). A perfect score per position is 200.
The match is open to any youth under the age of 18 that has an interest in competitive air rifle shooting. The competition is attended by teams and individuals representing JROTC, NRA, and CMP. Young athletes compete in one of two divisions: Sporter Class, which uses standard competition grade .177 Caliber Air Rifles, or Precision Class where specialized rifles and equipment is used. Individual and Team Medals and wards are presented.
